The UFO Sighting in Los Angeles

Still from a Twitter video
By now, you have probably heard about the "UFO" sighting in California over the weekend. Most of the time when this stuff happens, a select few people are able to get video of it. A lot of the time, it comes out that the people doctored these videos to try and get their five minutes of fame. This time was a little different. Instead of a handful of weirdos uploading their footage to YouTube, there were thousands of people from the area tweeting pictures and videos of it out for the rest of us to see.

Something stuck out about this sighting. I hadn't seen something like what was in the sky that night ever before. The weird, circular blue light looked like it wasn't something that came from the Earth. The first explanation that was offered up made a whole lot of sense. A news station came out and said that it was a meteor burning up in our atmosphere. This has happened before, most recently in Russia in February of 2013, when a meteor so big came through the atmosphere that the sonic boom injured a few people.

Meteor in Russia
I would have totally accepted this answer as an explanation for what had happened and would have moved on with my life. Then, the next morning the Navy took responsibility for it, saying that they launched a test of their Trident II missile from a ballistic submarine in the Pacific Ocean. A lot of people think that the government covers things up that happen in an effort to shield us from what is out there. Area 51 and Roswell are often brought up when you talk about government cover ups. But this time it was a little different. It almost seemed as though they were not quick enough to offer an explanation and had to make something up. Of course they can pass it off as a missile, it is something that lights up the night sky, whatever. To cause more confusion, they went on to say how it exploded in the air. This is the weird part. In all the videos I watched, I never heard a sound and really never saw a clear explosion. It just begs the question of what really happened.

After a few days of sifting through tons of youtube videos with no luck of finding a clear-cut answer, I stumbled upon the above video. I think that video offers a clear explanation of what happened. I think that it is pretty clear that the video proves that it was a missile, even though we can't see an explosion and no one heard anything. The government is weird, what goes on outside what we know is weird. It is up to individuals to make their own guess, this just happens to be mine.

Side note: I hope aliens aren't real. Definitely my #1 fear.
